On Saturday I had to wake up early with my dad and my two brothers because all the men and boys at our church had to go to make an umu.The umu was for our priest because he came back from Tonga on Friday night. In the umu there were four pigs,taros and kumaras.
Because the men were doing the umu the ladies had to make the potato salads,surumi salads,chickens,raw fish,chop suey and mussels.It took 2 hours for the ladies to make all these tasty foods.The pigs,taros and the kumaras were ready at the same time as well.
After everything was ready someone remembered that we forgot there were 2 more pigs to go in so we waited another 2 hours. When the two pigs were finally ready our priest was surprised because he didn’t know we were doing an umu for him.
