Firefighters Awarded For Bravery

                          Summary

A Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief and a Masterton Brigade Member have been honoured for their bravery and strength for their actions surrounding the 2012 Carterton Hot Air Balloon Crash. The awards were presented in a ceremony. They both provided assistance in the crash scene, which 11 people died. The honouring of their bravery at a attended by Internal Affairs Minister Peter Dunne is hoping to bring closure to both the men their, families and members of the brigade.

                           Opinion

I think that the two men are very brave. I think that they deserve their awards because I have never heard anyone do something as brave like that.

Lees Disney princess wish granted

Summary

Royal entrance Lee Tangiwai- Thompson celebrated her 16th birthday in true disney style. Make a wish foundation helped transform her uncles house into a disney world land. The day was a nice bit of happy magic for Lee. They granted wishes to about 250 children in New Zealand.

Opinion

I think that Lee had a very amazing birthday. I think that she was very lucky to have a birthday in disney style.

Are You Taller A 5 year old?

Summary

There is a 5 year old kid Karan Singh is already 5 feet , 7 inches tall. When Karan was born he weighed 15.4 pounds so that is about double the size of an average baby. He was even 4 inches longer than an average baby.

Opinion

I think that this boy is incredible. I think when he grows up he might be the tallest person on earth.

Summary

Richie McCaw has set another record becoming the first player to captain New Zealand 100 times. McCaw led New Zealand to a 34-16 win against Wales in Cardiff. The people who got the tries for the All Blacks was Julian Savea, Beauden Barrett and Kieran Reid.

Opinion

I think that the All Blacks have done so well beating Wales 34-16. I think that Wales did so well too. I think if they play again it might be a close match.

World Running Out Of Chocolate

Summary

According to New Zealand Company Whittakers, the world faces a temporary shortage in chocolate. The two biggest chocolate makers in the world, Mars and Barry Callebaut, claim that farmers are producing less cocoa than what the world wants. The reason is because the weather is going to be so dry.

Opinion

I think that it will be sad for those of us who really love their chocolate. I think that nearly everyone is going to miss their chocolate. I think that everyone should start buying lots of chocolate now before it runs out.

The Worlds Shortest And Tallest Man Meet For The First Time

Summary

The tallest man in the world and the shortest man in the world met for the first time in London for the 10th annual Guinness World Records Day. Sultan the worlds tallest man is 31 years old and he became the world's tallest living man in 2009. Chandra the worlds shortest man is 74 and became the world’s shortest living man in 2012. The tallest and the shortest living man said that it was very amazing for them to meet each other. Many people from all over the country was at the Guinness World Records event.

Opinion

I think that it is cool for the shortest and tallest man to meet each other. I bet that they were very surprised when they saw each other. I would be.

Kiwis win Four Nations

Summary

The Kiwis have won the 2014 Four Nation Rugby League Championships. The Kiwis beat Kangaroos 4 tries to 3 in the finals. Manu Vatuvei scored twice while Jason Nightingale and Shaun Johnson were the another try scores for the kiwis. This means that this is the first time since 1953 that the Kiwis have beaten the Kangaroos twice in a row.

Opinion

I think that the Kiwis did very well to win the Four Nations. I think that it is very good that they have beaten the Kangaroos twice in a row. WELL DONE KIWIS!

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2014

SUMMARY

My favourite movie that we watched at Sylvia Park for the film festival was from Point England and the title was called “I Can Do Anything.” The reason why I liked it was because it looked like they were having lots of fun. Another reason  I liked it was because the song was cool and it really matched the movie. Even the people playing the instrument looked like they were enjoying themselves.

OPINION

Golf Club breaks Guinness World Record

Summary

Michael Furrh has broken the world record by hitting a golf ball 576 meters in the air. The record was broken at Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington, Texas.

Opinion

I think that Michael Furrh is very good at golf. I think he has done really well.

Horse Dies In Melbourne Cup

Summary

Red Cadeaux was the horse in second place, with Auckland Cup Winner Who Shot The Barman Placing Third. The news of the race was the death of Admire Rakti. It won Caulfield Cup last month.

Opinion

I think that it is very sad that Admire Rakti died. That is not a good way for a horse to go.

Summary

The All Blacks have beaten the United States 74-6. The All blacks scored 12 tries altogether. Sonny Bill Williams  scored 2 of them. Next week the All Blacks face England at Twickenham.

Opinion

I think that the All Blacks did very well scoring 12 tries. I think that Sonny Bill Williams did a very good job too. Next week I think that the All Blacks are going to beat England.

World Record For Longest Continuous Weather Presenting.

Summary

Weather presenter, Eli Kari Gjengedal, broke the world record for longest continuous weather presenting. The record was broken on Norway’s TV2. She broke the record after 24 hours but carried on presenting until she reached a total of over 33 hours. (She was allowed a 5 minute break every hour.)

Opinion

I think that Eli Kari Gjengedal did a great job breaking the record for longest continuous weather presenting. I don’t think I’d be able to do this.

Sliver Ferns Have Lost To The Australian Diamonds

Summary

The Silver Ferns have lost against the Australian Diamonds and the points were 34-47. The Constellation Cup is now in Australia after they beat the Silver Ferns 3-0 in their series.

Opinion

I think the Silver Ferns will do better next time. I think the  Australian Diamonds were very good and really deserved to win the Constellation Cup.

You have to make it look like a pattern. You can rotate the squares and then you can group your shapes by pressing Ctrl G so you can keep it together. After that you can press Ctrl D so you can copy the squares and paste it so it can be easy for you. When you finish you can do anything with it like print it out and put it on your wall or a desk top pattern for you Chromebook. 

Sydney Roosters vs Bulldogs

SUMMARY

The Sydney Roosters and the Canterbury Bulldogs have both gone through to the NRL Preliminary finals. The Roosters beat the Cowboys by one point after James Maloney got a field goal and the points at full time were 31-30. The Bulldogs beat the Sea Eagles 16-6 and made it in the finals.

OPINION

I think that the Roosters and the Bulldogs are going to have a hard match. I hope the Roosters win because they are my favourite team.

UEFA Champions League

Summary

The UEFA Champions League has got under way this morning with eight games being played. Real Madrid Beat Basel 5-1 in the 1st round then Atletico lost 3-2 to Olympiacos in a close game. Bayern Munich and Manchester City is having a match tomorrow.

Opinion

I think that the UEFA Champions League is going very well with lots of close games. I can’t wait to watch some more of the UEFA Champions League.

Incy Wincy Spider

This is what my class created for art. First we had to plait wool to make the web with. After that we had to design our own spiders for the web. To design our spiders we had to look at some images on the internet to get some ideas about the patterns.

All Blacks beat South Africa

Wellington. Cornal Hendricks got the only try for South Africa while skipper Richie Mccaw got the only try for the All Blacks. The All Blacks Have 2 week break before their next game against the Pumas.

Opinion

I think the All Blacks have done very well and I think Richie Mccaw was awesome when he got that try for the All Blacks. I think that the All Blacks will beat Argentina at their next game. GO THE ALL BLACKS!!

A robber was caught during his attempted burglary after he fell asleep. 29 year Don Davis broke into a Florida home. He took lots of jewellery and he put it in a bag but after that he lay down on a bed and had a nap. A cleaning lady found Don sleeping in the house so the lady rang the police and the police came and arrested the robber.

(Opinion)

When I read the story I was laughing because I have never seen a robber take a nap in middle of robbing a house. I hope other robbers take a nap in the middle of robbing too so it could be easy for the police officers to catch them.

Andrew Nicholson wins 2014 Burghley Horse Trials

(Summary)

New Zealand equestrian rider Andrew Nicholson has won the 2014 Burghley Horse Trials in England. Nicholson’s victory means that now he has won 3 straight Burghley Horse Trials. Nicholson says it’s an amazing feeling.

(Opinion)

I think that Nicholson is an amazing equestrian rider. I never heard of anyone else win three titles from the Burghley Horse Trials. I hope that Andrew Nicholson wins more titles.

New Zealand Rowers Has Won Gold At The 2014 World Championships

Hamish Bond and Eric Murray has won 2 gold medals at the 2014 World Championship held in Amsterdam while single sculler Emma Twigg and the double of Zoe Stevenson and Fiona Bourke both won their first gold medals. At the 2014 World Championships New Zealand has won 9 medals altogether.

I think that the New Zealand rowers have done very well at the 2014 World Championships. Go New Zealand!

Hawkes Bay Wining The Ranfurly Shield

Hawkes Bay Have won the Ranfurly Shield after beating Counties 27-21. The Ranfurly Shield returns to Napier for the 2nd time. The Magpies will have their first defence on Sunday September 14 against Otago.

Tall Losing Their First Game In the World Champs

The New Zealand basketball team have lost their first game of the 2014 world Champions in Spain. Tall Blacks lost 76-73 to Turkey. The next game for the Tall Blacks is the Dominican Republic after they were beaten 72-62 to Ukraine.

My Finished Pendant

This is my finished pendant that I made at hard material’s tech at Tamaki College. My finished necklace is very smooth and shiny and I can see my face in it. I made a cross for my pendant because I like going to church and the cross is related to church.

I have worked very hard on making my pewter casting necklace and this is what  it looks like.   

Warriors Struggling To Make Top 8

The Warriors have been struggling to make it to the top 8. At the Warriors latest game they lost to the Roosters and the Warriors dropped down to 10 well the Roosters went up to 3rd in the ladder board. Now the Warriors are remaining opponents with Gold Coast and Penrith.

I think that the Warriors are going to do their best and still make it to the top 8. I remember 

when my team was struggling to make it in the finals and then we won our last game and did.

NZRFU To Stop Fireworks At Games

The New Zealand rugby union said that they are suspending all fireworks at their games. They had to make this rule because some fireworks at the Bledisloe Cup injured 3 people. Van Tiel Pyrotechnics says that it has been setting up displays for the All Blacks for more than 10 years without incident.

I think they shouldn't ban firework from the rugby union games because they look awesome when they go off.  How did the 3 

people get injured from the fireworks?

All Blacks Win Bledisloe Cup

The All Blacks have won the Bledisloe Cup against Australia. The score was 51-20 to the All Blacks. The All Blacks ran 6 tries to 2 while Aaron Cruden kicked 8 from 9 for 19 points. The result means that New Zealand have not lost a match at the ground since 1994.

I think the All Blacks did very well. The All Blacks did well getting all those points. I remember when I was player for Ellerslie Eagles under 12 and we came first in the ladder.

The English Premier League

The English Premier League has started. Chelsea and Manchester City have both started with victories. Chelsea won 3-1 against Leicester City while Manchester City beat Newcastle.Chris Wood New Zealand striker became the 2nd kiwi to score in a premier league. My teacher Mr Reid’s team West Ham lost in the first round.

I think that Manchester United is still going to win the premier league this year. They had an unbeaten per-season. I remember when my school went to our soccer tournament and we did very well. My favourite position is Goalie.

Really Good Score

The New Zealand women’s softball team has won the world champs.They won 5-1 against Russia. Danica Ferriso from the Black Sox scored 2 runs while Ellie Cooper,Lara Andrews and Mikayla Werahiko each got 1 run.

I think the White Sox did very well and 5-1 is a really good score. I remember when I went to our softball tournament with some other kids from our school and we won 1 game and lost 2 games but we tried our best.

My favourite position in softball is being the pitcher.

Black Ferns Crash Out Of World Cup

The New Zealand women’s rugby team has

failed to make it to the semi finals.In the

weekend at the Rugby World Cup. the  Black

Ferns hammered the United States 34-3 in

their final pool game in France.

England and Canada’s match was a draw

13-13 so that meant the team was out of

the semifinals.

The Black Ferns were very disappointed

that they didn't make it to the semi finals.

The best place the Black Ferns can hope for

Canterbury Crusaders In The Super 15 Finals

Crusaders vs Sharks highlights

Crusaders have made to the final game in the Super 15! They have beaten the Sharks in the semi final 38-6 at Christchurch.When the Crusaders faced the Sharks in the semi final the Sharks only got two penalty kicks for 6 points.The Crusaders came up with 5 stunning tries and had 38 points.The Shark’s defence wasn't that good and that’s why the Crusaders kept on breaking through and getting to the try line.The coach for the Crusaders, Todd Blackadder said they have to try harder this week so the Crusaders can win the grand final

The Crusaders are facing the Waratahs in Sydney this Saturday.

Luis Suarez Banned For 4 Months

FIFA has banned Uruguay striker Luis Suarez from all football for four months. The ban was because he bit another player from Italy. Luis Suarez is now out of the rest of the tournament and will also miss the start of the upcoming Premier League season in England where he plays for the Liverpool team.The ban also covers Uruguay’s next nine international games. FIFA also fined the Liverpool striker 100,000 Swiss francs ($112,000).This is the third time that  Suarez has got into trouble in football for doing something like this and it’s about time he was punished.

This is not fair play.  

Bowling Challenge

On Sunday my 2 cousins, my brothers and I went bowling at the AMF at Panmure.When we went inside the AMF there was a sign where the counter was and it said first place on bowling Wins 100 tickets so me and my cousins hurried to pay our lane just  so we could win the tickets. When we started I was first up to bowl and when I bowled the ball the ball just went on the side of the lane for a gutter-ball. Next up was my cousin and my cousin got a strike and we were cheering for him. After that it was my brother and he got two strikes. The man at the counter walked up to us and said “You guys have won the 100 tickets.”

He gave them  to us with 20 bonus arcade tokens.We all ran to the arcade to spend our tokens and get more tickets.

When we were ready to go home we had 541 tickets 

altogether so we spent them  on 5 packs of fart bombs.

All Blacks vs England 3rd Test Match 2014

The All Blacks had a great game against England in the 3rd test match.The All Blacks won   and the score was 36 to 13.The All Blacks tried really hard and broke England's defence and got to the try line.The tries were from Julian Savea and Aaron Smith. The All Blacks were proud of Julian Savea and Aaron Smith for always supporting the person who had the ball.After the game Steve Hansen their coach was very happy that they thrashed England and because they got the bonus try.

Now the All Blacks have to train even harder for their next match so they can get another bonus Try.

Funeral Of The Tongan Church Minister

On Saturday I had to go to Favona church to be at the minister's funeral. His funeral started at pm and went to midnight.When the funeral started we had to say a prayer and then we had to sing over 20 songs. At his funeral lots of people came with flowers and tapa cloths.It was really packed at the funeral. Lots of people came from Tonga for the funeral and even a minister from Tonga came.

The minister of Auckland was a very nice man and he was old.After the funeral people stayed at church until it was morning because he was getting buried on Sunday morning. When he was getting buried lots of people were crying and they stayed at the graveyard until it got dark.

Now we have to choose another minister for Auckland.
